I Did It Again.

Yep, that's right. I gave birth to my second little girl.  And it was amazing.

Yes, I still had to have a C-section. SOMEONE wasn't budging from her breech position.  But I was okay with that - because hey, it meant pregnancy was going to be over soon.  I can definitely see why people would prefer a c-section, because it is kind of easier than laboring and vaginal birth.  After I gave birth to Ari, I was tired, sore in my girly regions and just very tired.  After I gave birth to Karys, I wasn't very tired. I wasn't sore, and other than having a new center of gravity, didn't feel too much different than I had physically while pregnant.  The biggest difference is in how much swelling I have postpartum due to the IV fluids.  Regardless, my recovery is going very well with no complications.

My C-section was interesting. It was quick.  And I realized that the spinals are SOOOOOOO much better than epidurals. They actually hurt less! Who'da thunk it?  I managed to not completely freak out during the surgery.  Big reason? My husband's a rock.  When he's there, I'm nice and calm again.  Other reason: I could feel everything, just no pain.  And the doctor's manipulations just felt like baby movement.  So it was oddly comforting.  I had  a great team of doctors and nurses during the surgery and it was a very comfortable overall experience.

Would I have rather given birth vaginally? YES.  But I didn't have a bad experience with the c-section - it was a very good experience.  My doctor says that the next pregnancy I can have a vaginal delivery provided the child is in the proper position.

The highlights of the birth?  Hubby got to see Karys being born.  And he got to cut the cord. (Yay!)  She came out screaming her head off. I refrained from crying since you know, I was cut open on a table, I figured crying might cause problems with them putting me back together. But I did shed a tear! My babe was finally here!

Despite measuring bigger than her big sister throughout pregnancy, Karys weighed in just under 8lbs and about an inch or two shorter.  Considering there was only a 2 day difference in their gestational age, I was amazed that she wasn't bigger. Considering I was actually EATING this pregnancy, I'm amazed she isn't bigger!  Ari was a big baby, but she wasn't a chubby baby. She had big ol' chubby cheeks, but that was about it.  Karys is smaller, but she's a chubby one.

Overall, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy I am no longer pregnant. I feel so much better not being pregnant it's ridiculous. But I am most thankful that my newest babe is alive and healthy.  God has truly been good to me.
